Eagle sighting up close and personal

Sophie and I were taking a break and sitting on the top steps of the Camphouse overlooking Long Pond earlier in December. A mature eagle flew right towards us, turning abrupt once she noticed both dog and human. I could see each one of her white tail feathers, arcing away to steer her to safety. No photo – Sophie barely noticed – but it took my breath away.
