Why is Pinewoods conducting a capital campaign? Why now?
Its current relative strength makes this the time to take this bold step to provide for its future.

What is the campaign goal?
$1,250,000. How much has been raised to date? $668,931.

How will monies be used?
  • To continue to upgrade major facilities and respond to uninsured emergencies
  • To protect camp from encroaching development
Which specific projects will the campaign fund?
Rehabilitate and improve the quality of facilities including major upgrades to:
  • C# Minor
  • Ampleforth
  • Dining Hall
Protect the camp from development pressures in the neighboring community.
When a ten thousand acre development that included land around Halfway Pond was proposed, PCI contributed $100,000 to a consortium including The Nature Conservancy and The Wildlands Trust to protect the environment forever. Having the resources to participate in projects like these on short notice gives PCI an important voice in the future of our area.

If Pinewoods is financially solvent, why does it need to raise so much money?
Pinewoods has been fiscally prudent over the years, but the camp will not be able to complete the planned improvements, respond to uninsured emergencies, and protect camp from encroaching development without a successful capital campaign.

How long will the campaign last?
Five years.

Why should I contribute to the campaign?
Every individual or family who has enjoyed Pinewoods over the years should make a contribution so that it will be here for future generations.

Who is leading the campaign?
Jim Blackwell, chair, and a committee including representatives of all the user groups.

When will someone contact me?
Everyone who is connected to Pinewoods will be contacted before the end of 2006.

How can I give to the campaign?
Gifts can be made through checks, stock, one-time or recurring credit card payments and as planned gifts. Bequests are especially beneficial to Pinewoods. Gifts through trusts or life insurance are possible by working with your financial advisor.

How long do I have to complete my pledge?
You may make contributions up until the end of the campaign, October 31, 2009

If I have other questions, who should I talk to about the campaign?
Contact our Executive Director, Judy Savage. ( )
