Planned Giving
-
At some point in life, we start to think of the legacy we would like to
leave behind after we are gone. Making arrangements for a gift to
Pinewoods Camp after death may be one of the most satisfying ways to live
on — helping preserve a beautiful physical presence that supports the
continuation of the dance and song you love, for those who come after you.
Including Pinewoods in your will may be one of the most advantageous
ways you can support Pinewoods into the future. Taking effect after
you no longer need the money yourself, a bequest can accurately
reflect your caring for the things that make Pinewoods special, without
worrying that you might be caught short later in life if you give
too much now. You can change your mind about the bequest if
something changes in your life. There may also be tax advantages to
your estate.
How to make a bequest
-
Bequests are easy to arrange. You should
consult your attorney about the preferred wording, but something
along the lines of, “I bequeath to Pinewoods Camp, Inc., a nonprofit
corporation located at 80 Cornish Field Road, Plymouth, Massachusetts,
the following … for its general purposes,” will do.
Pinewoods Camp, Inc. is incorporated in the State of Massachusetts.
It is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Bequests can be of any size, from a symbolic token to an amount big
enough to help guarantee the continued existence and security of
Pinewoods into the foreseeable future. All gifts are welcome!
You may make your bequest in various ways:
- a specific sum of money
- a percentage of your total estate
- a percentage of the remaining assets (“residuary”) in your
estate after other bequests
- specific property, such as securities, real estate,
or other valuable personal property
- a contingent gift, which is fulfilled if certain conditions
are met, such as if your primary beneficiary does not survive you.
Other “Legacy” Gifts
-
In addition to bequests in your will, you may
also contribute to the continuation of the tradition of Pinewoods by:
- naming Pinewoods Camp Inc. as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy
- naming Pinewoods Camp Inc. as a beneficiary of your retirement plan
- making a “payable upon death” designation on a certificate of
deposit or other personal account, naming Pinewoods Camp Inc.
to receive the assets on your death.
There are a number of other ways to provide for the future of Pinewoods,
including various kinds of annuities and trusts. Many of them may have
financial and/or tax advantages for you as well as supporting Pinewoods.
We encourage you to talk with your financial planner and/or attorney
about the possibilities.
If you do decide to include Pinewoods in your will, we would like to
know about it so we can appropriately recognize your gift. However,
it is not necessary to notify us if you prefer not to.
Thank you for supporting Pinewoods!
