NGI Recipient: Jeremiah Seligman

Session Attended: CDS Boston Centre - First Weekend (Swing into Summer) (2013)

Jeremiah Seligman

My first taste of Pinewoods was quite the ride. I ended up at Swing into Summer as a last minute addition to a six week adventure that spanned one pair of shoes, four gigs, six states, fourteen dance halls, hundreds of dances, thousands of miles, and at least an entire lifetime of joy. I mysterious camp to the north where the dancing is punctuated by singing and the singing is punctuated by dancing. Where they eat and sleep and breathe folk tradition.

moment to chill your soul in the lake before you get back to the stomping and shouting and the love and smiles that make Pinewoods one of the greatest all around folk experiences you could find yourself taking part in. The people at the camp are inviting, the workshops and daily activities are engaging, and the dancing is invigorating. Since attending I have found myself dreaming and scheming of going back, and I’m sure that it will happen. Certain, even.

Many thanks are in order to the many minds that made my most magical experience. Mmmm, Max Newman. My main man. A master musician. A multi-flavored popcorn maniac. Let us all take a moment to marvel at the magnitude of his talent. But we mustn’t forget everyone else. From the committees who organize camp, to the staff and volunteers that run sound and keep cooks in the kitchen, to the campers who consistently keep the vibe going, every person who put a conscious thought or effort towards the betterment of this camp has my gratitude. You rock.

And I cannot forget the people who contributed to the funds that keep the NGI scholarships available. Your generosity is matched only by your good looks and charm.
