Session Attended: CDS Boston Centre - July 4th Weekend (2010)
To the NGI Committee,
Thank you for affording me the opportunity to attend Pinewoods over July Fourth weekend. I had an absolutely amazing time and was the constant target of comments like, “I can’t believe you’ve never been to Pinewoods before!” After only a day, I couldn’t believe it either. One of my favorite parts about being “a folky” is the inter-generational aspect of our community and I found myself connecting naturally with campers and staff members of all ages. It felt like coming home.
Over the course of the weekend, I participated in the Rapper class, Cotswold class, and English Clogging class, and dabbled in the English class. I found all the sessions extremely informative and well taught; clear structure, reasonable pace, and room for experimentation within the lesson format.
On the final night of the session, I took out a canoe for some quiet time before the evening’s festivities. I paddled out to the middle of the pond and took in a marvelous sunset with sporadic fireworks all around. It was the perfect seal on the weekend.
I certainly hope to be back next year. I think I’d classify myself as a “lifer in the making.” Thank you again for a wonderful experience.
